Oxford University, located in the eponymous
town in the UK, is the University's oldest English-speaking world.
Like the University of Cambridge, it is a
federation of autonomous schools. Schools are entirely separate entities, own
their property, with its own staff and its own budget.
The founding date of the college is unknown,
and perhaps did not exist as a particular event, but there is evidence of
teaching activities since 1096. The main rival of Oxford, is Cambridge University. It is considered superior Cambridge in scientific
subjects, while Oxford is considered superior in the humanities, although this
is not provable in reality. Both universities are engaged in research.
There are 38 colleges of Oxford University and six
halls, each with its own internal structure and activities. All students and
most teachers should be members of both the University as a college or hall.
Admission to college is highly rigorous and is
based on academic merit and potential of the candidate. Individual schools are
holding undergraduate admissions, working together to ensure that the best
students have a place at university. The selection is based on school
references, personal essays, achieved results, predicted results, written work,
written tests and interviews.
The price in Oxford University is similar than
in Cambridge University:
• Students from UK and European Union: £ 3.225
per year for all courses.
• International Students: £12.768 (14.061€) the
first 3 years (Pre Medicine - Clinical) and £23,631 (26.025€) for the clinical
period. These university fees must be added the fees Collage (£4,000 to £5,000
a year) and living costs (£6,000 to £7,500 a year). In total no less than
£23,000 per year (25.330€).
