If there was any doubt that fashion is an industry of
extremes, the news of the last months makes it clear. There is a continued
tight fashion to an ideal of beauty virtually impossible to achieve for its thinness,
but a change is seen in the acceptance of large sizes, still quite shy, but
already take advantage of designers and fashion editors.
To understand this concept of outsize, first thing to clarify is that it is not synonymous with being overweight or obese; it is an industry segment that includes models whose measurements are above the traditional standards imposed by fashion.
Tara Lynn, Fluvia Lacerda, Marquita Pring, Saffi Karina and Jennie Runk have managed to make a name in this difficult market with their bodies and their generous curvy silhouettes.

This article is something that makes you open your mind due to the fact that the accepted models in the industry has never been like that. I think is quite good to have different kinds of standars because some people let themselves influence by others so it could be a help for them to feel confidence
ReplyDeleteAre you agree with that new ideal of beauty? Why?
ReplyDeleteAs you said in your post, our current society follows a beauty canon that is marked by thinness. But, in case you have the chance of having whatever the size you wanted to have, would you rather choose a "bigger" size or a "thinner" size?
